How many cars have you owned?

Post

I thought it might be amusing to find out how many cars members have owned over the years?

To make things a little more interesting and to stop the 'more established' gents (and ladies of course) of the club trouncing everyone else you need to include how many years have passed since your first purchase.

I'll start the ball rolling with 28 cars in 10 years, so 2.8 per year - 13 of which were VAG group and only 1 Mk1.

51 so far!  I was 50 last August and thought I ought to buy my 50th car as a birthday present. It was only a few weeks ago when talking to someone who's first car was one of the original Seat Ibizas that I remembered I had had one and not on my list, so needn't have bought the last one!
Here's some of the manufacturers some had many versions.

Lexus
Porsche

£25 quid!!! Bloody hell fire

Would have been better than any savings accounts I can think of…..

When i was 14 (1996) I used to buy minis for like fiver or 10 quid each and make good ones out of em

We were very poor every penny counted, used to give some of the profits to my mum for food and my dad used to help with painting and welding them up in our council house back garden shed….

And I thought I was just weird having so many.

Let's make this even more interesting what were your best three cars from your list - not including your Mk1's of course. For me -

1. 2002 Lexus IS300
2. 1993 Honda CRX VTi
3. 1988 Golf GTI 8v

Yomp have you still got the frog eye? My old man has had a '59 frog eye since the early/mid eighties that I'm waiting to get my hands on! 1340cc with half race cams, roll cage, etc - proper little beast!

Edit: just realised you said '67, which I'm assuming must be a mk2 'sprigit'?

RichardHall my top 3 are:
1. R107 Mercedes SL380 2. Volvo V70 T5 (tuned to 300bhp, real sleeper) 3. Passat tdi (belly scraper)

R107 Mercs are so tempting at moment saw a couple at Classic Auction recently go very reasonable, a proper built Merc, there hasn't been an SL which hasn't eventually risen in price to silly levels.

It was a mk4. No don't have it now. Swapped it for one of my mk5 cortinas! I bought it with the front end smashed. It had been wrapped round a lamp post by a drink driver.
Just checked the dvla and it was last taxed in 2000 so probably dead now. Shame it was great little car.
