Cabriolet GTI fuel problem

Can anybody help? I have replaced all the fuel parts, tank, fuel tank neck, lift pump in tank, main fuel pump, accumulator all rubber hoses and fuel lines infact everything. The problem I have is I cannot get fuel to pump out of the main pump, only when I pinch the return line at the tank the main pump, pumps ok, it seems to pump into the fuel swirl pot and back to the tank via return line but not down to main pump. at the moment I have the fuel pipe disconnected at the accumulator and have the relay bridged so both pumps checked and working ok, just cannot get fuel to pump, I have replaced everything just as well I was going to anyway, but now I am at a loss.:'(  also tried another swirl pot just incase there is a valve or something inside faulty
double checked the pipes on swirl pot all ok in right positions

Now found the problem an old car alarm intermittently not powering main fuel pump, removed alarm rejoined wire now all back to standard and working ok, :) took a long time to find as when I checked pump supply I was getting 10.5v should have removed old alarm first as last owner said they had problems with it.:|

Don't you just hate POS, (Previous Owners Screw-ups).
After market alarms are the second biggest issue I have seen that and Aftermarket Stereos instillations.

If you don't want it stolen, then install power cut off to the fuel pump relay, or remove it carry it about in your pocket…. I had a friend that re-routed the FPR into his glove box.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

I guess professionaly fitted by supplying dealer as alarm dated 1987 same as car, now destined for rubbish bin. When I removed it very crudely and badly fitted wires just wrapped and taped, not soldered, surprised that it lasted that long without more problems no wonder it was switched off:lol:
