Help identify

Good evening.
Started going over the wiring on my 86 GTi cabriolet and whoever did the wiring on this previously may not of understood the assignment.
Can someone tell me what this is and does ?

Some kind of relay, the wire colors say possibly it's for a headlight, but you are better served by finding out where the wires go.  Then you know what it do.  

Yeah, all the wires from the relay lead into the passenger wing. I doubt very much the colours are correct due to just how bad the wiring has been done previously.
