Erm what the hell happened to this hood

Post

Just stumbled across this on ebay and overall it looks quite a good buy (althought it doesnt look as original as the seller makes out to me) but what the hell has happened to the roof??

It says its new but looks worse than my orginal one.
Apart from the fact the back looks loose, how can the side look as if they have shrunk already and the rear window looks huge

Well the side cables aren't short enough to keep the sides taught to the Frame.

When they buttoned up the sides at the rear frame they didn't either trim the excess of the vinyl off or failed to place the hole in the vinyl to allow the cable to enter the outside from the inside and not overlap the vinyl. The Sides were not pulled down correctly.

They didn't seat the sides correctly and or place the stiffeners in the cable bead.

The rear window straps aren't correct, as the top of the window is too loose, so I would assume that the straps were positioned correctly, the frame is rusticated and the straps pulled free. The lower pivots of the rear window probably weren't oiled, and the padding wasn't properly positioned… not bad for a halfassetted attempt, and it could be better…. but those are the glaring things I see.

It says refurbished hood.
That means nothing.
More like they’ve cleaned it.
It looks like the corner webbing straps are missing or not connected.
And the webbing straps that hold the rear window frame in place at the top.
Assuming they took the frame off for the respray but not fitted it all back properly.
If it’s a new top its shockingly fitted.

Thats what I thought about the seats and the wheels.

I assumed it was an "all white" which has evolved over the years.

Another 1k to sort the roof?

What I find funny is that they spend all that monies and don't clean the bottom of the car, but leave it as is.
LOLOLOL…..

Ya can polish a pig, but it still is a glossy pig, and this case with red lipstick.  :)

Do the Door cards look a bit funky?

Chortle, I don't think you or I could do a top that looks that bad on a 4 day bender….

I'd like to think I could achieve a better job in the dark on a windy night.

I've just noticed the car has no waist line trims at all, been completely smoothed off
