1988 MK1 Golf Cabrio GTI

Have managed to pick up a GTI cabriolet(white with black roof) with 132.900 miles on it.
It has been off the road since 2009. I am looking at restoring this vehicle including a full
respray. How would I be able to get a rough idea of what it would be worth if it was
restored to a decent standard?

Honestly unless its a special edition of some kind by the time you've spent money on a respray (depending on the standard) then you arent going to have any worthwhile profit in the car.

Despite the prices you see on ebay its realistically only a 5k car

Current rides:

2003 BMW 330d Manual Saloon Msport
1985 GTI cabriolet black edition (42k miles)
1999 Triumph Daytona 955i Post apocalyptic, rat, brat, scrambler, steam punk, cafe racer

Agree with 1985, difficult to restore MK1s and make money unless mega rare like Yomps early S1 press car and if you count his time spent then not so much…

Only worth doing as a hobby or if car is a family heirloom.

If you do restore it to a high standard you know its done right and then enjoy for many years.

Think the restoration profit potential is at the wendyball end of the classic market, Aston Martins, Ferraris etc

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.
