I do see a marked increase in the price of Cabby's in general and it's a little more than the normal year on year increase as it is with tin tops.

I think it's because of two things.
Firstly it's a bit of market correction as even very nice ones have been under valued in favor of tin tops for years.
Secondly supply because the extreme high prices of tin tops is eroding the market overall as potential buyers opt for in theory the affordable option.

As an example I'll use mine, now I'm not saying what I paid for it back in 2013 but it was a fair price.
Now if other than doing basic jobs to keep it up to gether (no extras at all) if I was to advertise it today looking at market prices I would have to put a price on it of more than double what I paid.

But there is a third factor and that is buyers are far more likely to dig deeper into their pockets for a real original car than a modded one.

Buying a generally modded Mk1 and getting back to standard is difficult and expensive!

Just my opinion of course. ☺️

sheeeeeeeeeeeit, yall get crazy prices over there.  I was wanting only 2500 for my green cabby, then 1500, and folks wanted me to give it to them… only 216K on the clocks… but alas my sons Pissan Nathfinder Crapped out so it is going to the large breakers, and he is driving my Green Cabby now.

Perfect don't have to get rid out the family Which is a bonus but being your son probably will never pay you anything and keep the money if he sells it

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk just checking (G.C) when you say generally modded, my golf was originally a 1.1 now a g60 , looks standard actually had Diesel badge on it. I’ve since put Gti badges and the vinyl Gti stripes plus a set of pirelli ps to  be fitted when their tidied, how off putting do you reckon it is if I was to try and sell it? Having originally been  a lowly 1.1

If he sells it and keeps the money, I have a .038, and a .045 issue with that  besides he lives at home.
