Quick question. What do you use to get the Matt decal looking good on the tailgate?

I have been given all sorts of advice over the years but now want to do something a bit more correct. And for those wondering the advice has included

Tyre shine
Baby oil
Wd40
Dashboard silicon
Pledge

Autoglym do a good silicon based satin shine from memory a green smelly one.

Never heard of that except what's on a tree lol. Is it a Halfords product or somewhere else?

I always found Meguiars Ultimate Black worked quite well on the hatch surround decal (also matte black) on my previous Mk2. It used to be part of my routine when applying it to the arches and bumper trims...

Use it according to the instructions and it simply does the business. 😉👍🏼

I only use the Kiwi Quick shine on my Air bag… :) Gets it to match the leather.
But I found better for the other plastic bits.
After removing the handles off the door I found that cleaning the plastic handles, really really good Hot soapy water, then using a metal polish or Clear coat  Polish makes the handles look new, and stay that way for a year or two. Using a Variable Speed Dremel on low with the Polishing wheel makes the job easier.

I found that by using wet/dry sandy paper on my "B" pillars then followed by again clear coat polish they shine big time and I think it's been 2 or 3 years since I have done it as well.

Before 1000/1500/2000/3000 wet…. doesn't take much, same thing I use on my vans headlights to decrapazoid them

sanding

After the 3000
Prior to the polish

You can use your fingers or a drill with a polish pad (works good in the handles)…..

Now for the rear license surround, I cheat a bit.
Remove from the car.  Clean it with hot soapy water and a soft brush.  Let Dry.
Use painting alcohol and wipe the plastic a couple of times…. Allow to dry.

Spray with Krylon Fusion Satin Finish Black paint, 2 coats…. it is usually good for 5-8 years…..

For the time to keep it clean, I would strip it off, clean the paint mask and spray it either flat black or Satin..
The 2 coats of clear satin….. easier to maintain…
