Central Locking

Anyone had a professionally fitted Central locking system to a 2 door mk1? If so how much should it cost?

Mine came this the full alarm system but the parts don't cost a lot.
Just depends if you can do the fitting and electrics yourself. 👍

Central Locking

It's really easy to do. Just buy 2 wire motor kit x2,
You need to fit the motors in the bottom corner of door and run the rod near the door lock/unlock rods and connect onto there.  you can either fit the clamps in the kit for the rods or if you want to remove the lock unlock knobs it's even easier as it's a lot less faffing adjusting etc. It's been 15 years since I've fitted some though. Your also going to know the alarm wiring, if you tell me what you have I might be able to help.

Without going into details, I'm just looking to find out how long it would take a professional auto electrician to fit this setup, not cutting corners or anything but a good job? Ideally no guess work here, but feedback on either someone who does it for a living or someone who has had it done?

If they've done Mk1's before and know what their doing, half a day.
I've seen it done with my own eyes.

Ive fitted loads of them on a range of cars but they're not too common these days.
Overall the mk1 isn't that bad. Probably take me 1-2hours for two wire motors wired to either alarm or remote locking interface. And that would be done properly taped with material type, clipped soldered etc. The most time consuming part is the rod clamps part as it's very tight, you have to use the block clamps rather than the u bolt type. I'm going to redo mine soon, I'll take some pictures of the job.
