Breakdown recovery not assistance

Post

Been looking at breakdown cover recently but I'm struggling to find what I'm looking for.

In short unless its a catastrophic failure I can more than likely fix it myself to a degree so I dont really want a wally in a yellow or orange van turning up looking for my ODB2 socket.

I basicly just want to pay for recovery, I've got to go for a 200 mile journey very soon to see a young man called Chortle in Derby, if anything goes bang I dont want it being fiddled with I just want it flat bedding home.

Anyone recommend a company for this cover?

I'm with the AA as it covers me and I've paid extra for ether road side assistant or take me home/destination or my choice. About £9 a month.

As both my cars are old it covers me which ever one I'm in. (Not that either car has needed the AA in 25 ish years)

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Yep thats what I'm after, I was under the impression that most would only deliver you to the nearest garage.

Deano I did read it, was actually quite heart warming and I have since added duct tape to my car boot emergency tools bag

We have Auto Aid. I believe the cost is £60 for the year with free spouse cover but check first. I've used them twice. Once for a split hose that was repaired at the roadside. Second time the radiator blew. They gave us a rent a wagon to get home and the car was collected at the same time and delivered back home the next day.

Vic lovely that sounds good.

Not sure I want the spouse covering though, be an easy way to get rid of her on a hard shoulder somewhere
