Another school day today

So went to fit my nice shiny refurbed wheels today.

Discovered i couldn't get the wheel nuts in. The lip made them too big to fit down the 20mm hole. Why the hell would a wheel manufacturer do that.

So tomorrow I have to go out and buy Tuner Wheel Bolts. Never heard of them until today but apparently that is what is needed. Grrrr another good plan scuppered.

If like me you are lost on this little detail above is what I am getting.

Is it not just the finish?

You say freshly refurbed, are they powder coated?

Yes fully stripped tested and powder coated.

Standard bolts about 4-5 mm too big to go down the hole. Can't even get a 17mm socket in it.

Luckily a supplier is only a 30 minute drive away so can go and spend £20 on a new set of bolts.

On the upside I no longer have to paint my original coated ones black saving me some time with a rattle can.

Yeah well now you've mentioned it those holes look way too tight but it's all after the fact of course.

Great that you have a low cost solution though! 👍🏼

So got just 4 bolts locally but enough to get them sat on it on the drive. Ordered the other 12 so can complete the fitting. Need to paint the drums black and get centre caps but looking good.

And for comparison.

Only issue I see is that you are going to have to carry a spare breaker bar and socket so you can roadside repair…..

As far as rattle canning, I do that to all my Lug Bolts or nuts.  As it quickly tells me if the shop used the proper socket on repair/replace of tire…. I once had a shop use a SAE socket on the bolts and rounded all of them…easy to spot a sombitch for them to remove and replace new bolts….

Matter of fact, I got my locks re-keyed, and a complete repaint from them as well for that set of tyres.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

The internal drive bolts come with a little extended with a 17mm socket head on it so similar to a loving wheel but method.

Still got to get the paint can out for the drums anyway. Always something to do.
