Clear coat or not?

I'm painting my cabby La5e Maritime blue  Mipa brand  I have the paint a few years now.Painting the car went on the long finger.  I've painted the wings and boot lid .Now  I'm having doubts as to whether I should be spraying 2k clear over the blue? I thought  the blue was the finish paint , solid gloss is that what it's called?Any panelbeaters/ spray painters out there answer my questions . Much appreciated . The question is did you buy single stage or two stage paint.

Single is paint and clear in one product.
Two stage is Color, and a clear coat on top.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

The paint shop never mentioned me needing a clear coat that's for sure . . I would imagine clear would be applied wet on wet over colour  . So  I don't want go any further til I'm 100 pc sure. . Thanks for reply👍

If you've bought the clear over base (cob) version, you should find that the base coat goes Matt as it dries. If direct gloss then it will have build and gloss from the spray gun .

The base coat is mixed with a solvent only,

Assuming you're using 2K (two pack) the solid colour ( direct gloss) is mixed with a hardener as well as some solvent, and will stay shiny when dry.

Generally these cars were painted in direct gloss if a solid colour, and clear over base system only if it's a metallic colour.

Hope this helps
