Rusty windscreen suround and pillar

Hi all,

I've just removed the windscreen (and broken it) from my cab to investigate the 3 patches of bubbling paint to find 3 gaping holes. 2 are at the bottom of the windscreen which hopefully will not be too difficult to fix and 1 is on the bottom of the pillar. It's approx 1 inch long and 1/2 wide inside the seat for the rubber.

Can anyone tell me the best course of action to repair?

Cheers

David

David,

Hadrian do repair panels or you could cut out some sections from a donor shell.  Post a pic of the rust so we can see where it is.  Only real option is to cut out the rust and weld in new metal.

Unsurprisingly, I've got a donor shell that could supply some tin!

Is there ANYTHING you don't have crazyquiff!!

I've recently used a Hadrian replacement panel below the windscreen, easy area to repair…. it's just the windscreen that's the pain to get out!

 :D

Windscreens easy to get out without breaking - another forum user told me how and i've done about 4 now without breaking!

I use about 10 flat screwdrivers.  From the inside working from the top push them between the frame and seal while pulling back the seal lip that comes in the frame.  The screwdriver will stay there.  Repeat about 2 -3 inches apart along the top.  Use another driver to push the seal lip to the other side of the frame lip.  eventually the drivers will start to fall out as the creen comes out.  Keep doing and work down the sides evely and eventually the screnn will lift out  :D

Put it back with builders brick line and don't use washing up liquid!

B*gger! should have joined up here before I cut the rubber seal and then still split the windscreen (the 2 peices of glass seperated leaving a nasty oil mark in each corner)

I've been told putting it in is easier than getting it out though  :D

My local scrappy has an A reg CL in pretty good nick, it has everything I need including an original unmarked windscreen!!

Going back tomorrow armed with an angle grinder so let me know if there is anything you need.
