I Just dont know where to start!!!

:banghead:

Hi all i have had about 3 flippy floppy cars now and i have owned various dubs over the years!!
I have a Lovely Rivage in blue the body work is mint the roof is mint!! it has full aston martin blue leather!!
Last sept i took it off the road as i was going away 6 months(in Forces) i came back a few weeks ago and the car was a mess inside !! there had been a leak and the floor had about 2 inches of water everywhere and covered in mold!! the door cards which are covered in nice leather were soaked at the back and all moldy!!The dash was covered in mold!
Anyway i have just spent ?600 on parts new roof seals(GPC) new door slot seals(GPC) new rad cards(GPC) new dash surround and lots of new switches bits and bob from VW.

I really dont know where to start!! the car has soo much work needs doing and i just need a good kick up the backside to get the work done!

Anyway dont really know why i have posted this!! :dontknow:

I need to get out there and sort it out!!!
Also have a mk2 16v needs a bit of TLC!!

Anyhow where should i look for this water leak? anyone know a common place? as it needs a new carpet and sound deadening as well, and i dont want to have that fitted only for it to get wet again!! i bought the 2 seals that sit ontop of from windows, as they seem a bit worn! they weren't cheap!!

Well any one with some motivational words would be welcome

It might sound daft - but its worth checking your windows were fully wound up. Even if they were ajar, its enough to make it leak. If (by sheer chance) its not raining, you can use a hosepipe or bucket of water, and a trusting friend, to locate the leaks precisely.

Oh wow that's bad news mate. Get her dried out slowly. I don't know about the mold but you'll have to get something to combat the spores and kill them off. My advice would be to strip her out. The seats are easy to get out as are the door cards. You'll need to remove the carpet too to dry out the sound proofing.

Good luck with it.

Yeah definitely, it goes without saying, you'll have to remove all the seats and the carpet, because the felt underlining (soudproofing stuff) will have been soaked and trapped the moisture. And its not really worth putting it back until your leak is sorted out.

Right car is stripped!!! good afternoons/evenings work!! i got motivated!! carpet is out!! wreaked!! it tore as i was pulling it out!! so new one reqd!! newtom Commercial maybe? door cards are off and found out that they are not original ones anyhow just home made from board and covered in leather! so will get new ones maybe more board and make my own again and re staple leather on! got most of dash apart except actual dash itself but the surround radio ashtray dash cllocks, gonna get a good cleaner in there later and try and demold!! will take some pics later but not sure how to get them on the site!! tried and failed in the past!!lol but i will try again!! :D

windows were defo fully up not sure to be honest where water was coming from gonna get a mate to hose the car whilst i am in it to see if i can locate it.

you say the door cards were home made ? did you have the plastic membrane behind the doorcards ? were they  complete and correctly fitted ?  also like bert said check around the bulkhead, drainholes, all cables running from engine bay into the car. good luck but find the leak before you do anything else.

No membranes!! just open door, so either gonna get me some new door cards or make some and recover, they did not fit that well!! i think newton comm do them i will also put the membranes back on to stop this happening again! hopefully

Well done, sounds like it's coming on well. Always a good excuse to get things like new carpets etc.

Keep up the good work and make sure you identify all the causes.

yep don't take for granted that is the only cause, do the hose pipe check all over while everything is stripped out.
