big back lights

i have a 1980 v reg 1.1n everything is early but has big rear lights is this because of the change over year  hope someone can answer this as i havent heard of any others like this cheers

If your car is a 1980 Model Year it will have an "A" as the 10th digit in the VIN and should have small tail lights. The change over to large rear lights was in August 1980. I would check your car's rear panel is original as I have seen a few repaired with the later large light panel as it used to be easier to get hold of.

It should have small tail lights. Check your rear panel for signs of replacement (around the welding seams at the edges). Also check the rear lamps for any date stamps.
