Axle mounting

Hello,

Finally got round to doing something while I try and find another body shop (my baby sat in a local one for 14 months and they did nothing, gutted).
I have refurbed and powder coated the rear axle but when I took it off I managed to snap of one of the mounting studs  :banghead:  :banghead:
Does anyone have any suggestions on fitting a new one? I have a friend who can get access to any kind of welder. I can?t weld to save my life but he seems to know what he's doing, he mostly does industrial stuff rather than automotive but any help of advise would be fantastic!

 Cheers,

 Ben

Get your mate to pop round with a portable Turbo MIG set and weld a new stud in.  He might strugle at first with the relative thinness of the metal but he should be able to sort it out for you no problem.

If you go poking around in the boot above the axle mounting you should find some holes covered in tape, underseal and paint. You can enlarge these and this gives you access to area. Drill out the broken stud from below and weld in a new 17mm bolt. Reweld the hole up where you enlarged it, recover with tape etc.

Yes I snapped one too?.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.
