What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
Where are my DIY Links?

you dont need the MK4 clocks, can defeat immo and convert it all to run the mk1 clocks. but if you did fit the mk4 cluster then immobiliser would work, rev counter etc.
Wiring wise try here:

for the v5 rev counter if its earlier type with coilpack this might work:

otherwise one of these will convert the ecu 5 cylinder signal to mk1 clocks:

a 20v type tacho converter wont do the trick as there are too many cylinders, you need a 5->4 cylinder converter then low -> high amp signal converter
if its a 6 speed box you need custom shafts plus if you want mk1 clocks you need an electronic -> mech converter for speedometer as they only have a hall pickup type. 5 speed box is driven off a gear inside the box so you can use 1.3 speedometer cable same as you do with the 20v swaps.
