Oil pressure buzzer and light

The whole time I've had this car when ever I went around a roundabout or a corner at speed the oil pressure buzzer went off. Then a few months ago I was taking my car to have it's MOT done and an oil change while they were at it and on the way to the garage the oil pressure buzzer and light came on and didn't stop. When I got it back the buzzer and light were off so I thought that maybe the oil was very low  :redfaced: and had now been sorted. A couple of weeks later I probably put my foot down a bit too hard down a dual carriageway and it came on again and has been coming on most of the time since.

I'm not sure if it's an electrical problem (another one :banghead:) or oil pressure problem?

I haven't got a lot of time to spend on the car these days so is it something easy to check out or best get a garage to do?

I had the same problem a year ago it turned out to be a pressure
switch you should have two one on the filter housing witch from memery
in a high pressure switch and then one on the side of the head witch is low
pressure switch this is the one that was faulty on mine so try changing that.
Hope that is of help

Replaced mine with a vdo 2pin unit so i could run a pressure gauge.
Try bbt think they have them around £7 just check the
colour of yours as they operate at different pressures.
Ive got a couple of black ones you can have to try, not sure
they work but theres three so one must work.

i had this exact same problem on my mates mk1, i wipped the sump off , the pick up was choked, cleaned all this off, and there was left overs from broken dipstick in there, so while i was their i replaced the oil pump, only cost 37.00 can runs better than it ever did … well worth doing

Thanks for that!
I just had a look and it's a black one.
It looks very old and rusty so it could well be this.
If you don't mind sending me them that would be great, otherwise I can just pick one up as they are only about £6.

I'm going to change the pressure switch and if that doesn't work I'll give your suggestion a go. If the pressure switch does do it I'll still take the sump off and clean it up and replace the oil pump but in a month or two anyway when I've got a bit more time to spare.
