Oil Cooler Union Sizes

Hello All,

Hoping someone can put me in the right direction

I seem to have thrown away my threaded union/ inserts for my oil cooler, old style w/ little radiator

Can anyone show me where to order new ones ? (049 117 233) Or what size to buy ? I assume parallel thread style?

Anyone convert that to some form of aeroquip/ motec fitting size

From what i remember for looking at converting my golf to use a motec oil cooler is that the fitting connection to the oil hose is a VAG only connection and not a standardized connection type, but if it helps I've managed to find out that the Audi 80&90 use the same fitting on their oil coolers as the MK1 golf. I had better luck searching 049117233 rather than 049 117 233.

They were a standard-ish item, i.e. you can buy them, although not from VW direct. I seem to remember one side is imperial and one metric, hence relatively hard to find on a standard shelf.

I've completely forgotten their sizes, however I ended up going into my local Pirtek shop.. Within a few seconds took a guess, and told me exactly what was needed!

Less than £5 each I think.
