MK1 GTI 1.8 Cylinder Head bye bye...

Post

Hi Guys,

I have a very rare car in my country, and Mk1 GTI 1.8. Actually it was the only one imported to Chile, I'm in the process to restore it. The engine broke down, unfortunetly the cylinder head is out, the time stopped of the car killed it.

I cannot repair it unfortunetly, I have the option thou of installing an MK2 1.8 8V cylinder head. The water and oil conducts look the same, but anyone has used it here? What about the k-jetronic, it fits?

Thank you guys!

Max

if its a GTI head then yes, if it was a later digifant injection engine however you'll need to swap kjet injector inserts into it and your old ones may not fit. if not you'll have to source the correct inserts to match the mk2 head, earlier mk2 gti kjet ones should work :)

the only other potential difference is some later kjet have a vac connection between injectors 3 and 4, just cap this off if you dont have the pipework for it, or cap the pipe if you have the pipe but no port!
