Misfire when hot

The car starts fine and runs fine from cold, however after about 8 miles a misfire will start. Slight at first but quickly gets worse, until it reaches a point where the car is un driveable.

I've changed the coil, but to no effect.

The injection system was overhauled recently by Bosch and a new cold start regulator fitted.

Any idea's?

Thank's in anticipation

Thanks.

Leads are my next port of call, after that it's off to Bosch.

It only seems to happen under load, I can't replicate the fault with car stood still :banghead:

Had similar with the GTI Cab - turned out to be the lift pump in the tank. But tin tops don't have lift pumps !!

Good job I'd left the e-mail notification open :)

Hope it's not the same as mine

It was a by product of having the car off the road for about 18 months, whilst doing a slow restoration. The empty tank had developed a very fine rust coating whilst stored. When filled with petrol, this washed off, stuffing a brand new fuel pump and eventually blocking the filter causing fuel starvation. Once left standing it would gradually fall away from the filter only to be sucked back in once restarted.

The bad news is it cost about ?500 to ?600 for the Bosch centre to put right. New tank, another new fuel pump, in line filter, re-clean injectors and metering head plus the diagnostic work to find the fault.

I had already agreed a price to sell the car, so was in a bit of a rush to get it sorted for the sale to go through.
I spoke to the new owner (Phil from Hatlepool, if he comes on here) a few months later and he was really pleased with the car, no problems except for a dodgy battery.
I must admit I was slightly jealous when he came round in it, standing on a set of refurbished P-slots it looked excellent. Though it's replacement, a Caterham more than makes up for selling it.
