HT Leads correct order 1.6 GTI

Hi there,

Still having trouble running mine 1981 1.6 GTI EG, and therefore would like to know what is the correct order of the HT leads, and the injectors.
I believe it is "1342" for the HT leads but not sure which one is the first.

Is it?

13
42

Thanks

in theory yes. 1342 is correct but where one is, is not always where it should be. you can take the plug out of no. one cylinder and turn the crank by hand or rock the car forwards and back to check tdc. then see where the rotor arm is pointing and that's no one. no.1 is furthest from the dizzy btw.

also making it

1-3
2-4

on the dizzy cap

as the rotor arm spins clockwise

The order of the injectors makes no difference, it's a constant pressure system so injectors are always receiving petrol.

if you get it wrong the car will either back fire, run like a bag of spanners, or wont run at all. when in right order should start ok, i should know as ive just changed mine and  :banghead: got it wrong and all of the above happend.
