finding it hard to find replacement split pipe

Post

Can anyone help me find a replacement for this? All eBay listings, and VW Heritage, etc, look the same, but when arrive are way too short. Length needed is 140mm, and internal diameter 20mm one end and 24mm the other end. Help please! :)TIA!

That looks to be the connect hose from the water pimp to the heater hose hard line.

Or just buy some 20 and 24 and join with a reducer?

thanks have asked for measurements. Looks can be deceiving with this one, having a real issue finding the right length!

Have you tried a VW dealer?
They do still keep some stock of hoses, I bought a new hose from the water pump to the metal pipe a couple of years ago no problem from vw.

It's a KR engine code, the car is 1989 cabrio, but engine is 1992 16V

Then you need to stop looking for Mk1 golf hoses as that engine was not fitted to a UK car and look for a model with that engine fitted, 1992 Mk3 golf maybe?

Have a look here for a part number then it will be alot easier to find or try calling VW.

iof that pipe doesnt fit, then something is wrong with your coolant pipe setup, or the part you are buying is not made to the same size as the genuine vw pipe.

post up pictures of the engine, especially of the metal pipe you have

I know that the hard pipe or steel can get bent out at the mounting brackets, and that will lengthen the distance between the Pipe and the Pump, and occasionally I have had to bend it back… IIRC it was when I was taking my tranny down and it caught a bit on the bell housing.

Also if the Pipe is spaced out on the hard mount that could be up to 1/4 of an inch difference.
