clutch question

Post

I was looking at a cabby and was interested in it. When I drove the car , I noticed the clutch was gripping kind of late. I asked the owner about it and he said he purposely adjusted the clutch to come late. That keeps me wondering. I know you can adjust the clutch cable but the clutch point???.  the cable doesn't look more lose than it should be.
Makes me wonder…

Sounds iffy to me, I know it is possible to delay a clutch engagement, but it sounds as if the free-play of the pedal was where he made the adjustment.  I always preferred 1/4 to 1/2" freeplay prior to engagement, and that a 1/3 to 1/2 depression fully engaged the clutch.

That and the fact that there are about 4 different lengths of cables for the clutch.

My clutch bitting point is high compared to newer cars and my clutch is only 4 years old, new clutch is £60ish DIY so don't let that put you off and as already side it's a cable so you can adjust it, you should have about 10mm of free play on the pedal.
