I'm looking to buy a four branch manifold for my 1982 mk1 golf gl 1.5. however, all the ones on ebay list all types and sizes of engine that they will fit but none mention the 1457cc engine. is this because they are different? or is the block the same as the 1.6 and if i bought one would it fit?
here is a link to one i've been looking at but they seem to list everything but the 1.5

Block is the same as 1600 . The only issue using stainless steel is the manifold cracking, you really need to fit a flexi-joint.

Stick with Original 1.6 gti clamp style manifold and downpipe and have the rest stainless .

The issue i see with bolt type is no flexing, wouldn't this strain the bolts on manifold to block, addtional stress to engine mounts in terms of vibrations?
Exhaust actually hitting against flooring of the golf?
Is this type of manifold 6 bolt type the cause for aftermarket manifolds cracking easily?
Or is there a modification in order to let the exhaust move slighty like there is with the clamped style?
Best wishes

well if its fine on the mk1 gti it'll be fine on the 1.5
you could put a flexi after it like on the small blocks/aftermarket 4 branch I suppose?

Well, it's been 7 years… I'm still curious about the exhaust you fitted on the 1.5
