If you having 'pierburg' carb trouble, replace it with the webber conversion, manual choke..just done it due to advice eon this board, wish i'd done it earlier!! try eurocar parts (?216) or theres a guy on ebay, pm for his details…very very knowlegable, sells refurbished webers & pierburg (with 12 month warranty) ?110, plus you get ?30 back on your old carb, guy has 100% positive feedback

Projekt Frustration :
White 1991 Clipper. Lowered over polished zender rims, Single 40 dellorto on lynx manifold, kent cam, full stainless 'zorst / manifold, powerflex bushed and braced. Not the fastest car, but sounds super nice!
Still going after 12 years… never said it was a quick fix! Time is not my friend.

Its a bit unfair to call it rubbish but it is a more complicated carb, thats why people pick the weber ones
i totaly agree, a pieburg is more complicated, more technology and more thigs to go wrong, but weber need a person to adjust the choke,
all that said I have to say, i've just bought a weber.

From my group of friends several people have had negative experiences with pierberg carbs, many of them on vauxhall novas in days gone (before the nova rotted to nothing.
Carb's should be relatively simple, less to go wrong, Pierberg carbs are just too unpredictable.
My views have good grounding as mine stuck at 3000 rpm and I had a really unpleasant experience as a result.

can I also say that I've shared your experiences, having to swith engine off in lights then pulling off while steping on the brakes to not hit the car infront.
And i've also had a go a fixing my pierburg with another one which was obiosly taken off because it had the same broken bits as mine, and now I've bought a weber(which should arive in the post today).
But I've not swaped to a weber because the pirburg is pants, its because as a mechanic, I'm pants.
But as a lover of technology I can apreciate how good a pirburg is.
I had the same conversation with my mate Barry, who said theres no need for a water choke and an electric one, and a little willy thing that gets exited and revs the pants of your engine, all the time, but the little willy thing only revs the pants off because its not working corectly, if it was working normally it would stop your engine cutting out and nothing else.
