oil pressure

can anyone give me a ball park figure of the oil pressures of a 1457 JB engine? 80 - 90 PSI seems slightly high to me.

High "the good book says" 1500cc at 2000rpm is 30 psi !! Thats about average for most engines of this era ….

If you have 80 -90 psi some thing is wrong and at that pressure oil would be pouring out all over the place . . .

my imidiate thoughts were that ive wired the guage up wrong... but its a capilary thing, so not much can go wrong!!! it was going off of the guage when it was being revved... will try to change the oil filter in case that is blocked up.

just out of interest, what 'era' is this engine, because, correct me if im wrong, the exhaust is on the wrong side, and didnt ford and vauxhall stop making these 'pre-crossflow' engines in the 1960's?

The JB engine was fitted between 1978 and 1983.
