I think they're all the same (the type that you add to your oil just before the oil change).

i only use it on manual tappets,
i never use it on hydraulic tappets as it does excatly what it says on the tin, and there for the tappets will be dryer first time u start it up, there for are getting metal on metal wear, but thats my thoughts,

Engine flush helps hrdraultic tappets by clearing the oil ways to them and helping them expand more quickly, taking up the slack. The metal on metal is not a major concern as the tappet faces will have oil on them for the first startup  from when you poor the new oil in the rocker cover. exactly the same as fixed tappets.

I use engine flush and it dramatcally reduces tappet noise from cold.

engine flush will help hydrolic tappits, if they are rattling, or u have recently brought the car and are not sure of the history give it a wirl, but i wouldn't use it every oil change, if u use a good oil it should have a cleaner built in, keep flushing is a waste of money every change, just stick to changes every 6 months or 5,000 miles.
