tell me about it, I'm in Portsmouth by the way. Not had the car for nearly 3 months!!!!  I needed a new carb anyway, which looked like it was the route of my cold start problem. bought a 2nd had from an expert on ebay, only to find that was faulty after chnagign numerours other things(stear clear of golf_2_specialist as he is arguing over a refund!!), i won thr weber convrsion, he sent a peirburg with auto choke!!! that carb  has been proven as faulty (dodgey choke)..
ordered a brand new weber converison, only they delivered the wrong type(manual gearbox not auto) then the replacment was faulty as part of the carb was incorrectly machined!! brand new correct carb delivered this week, fitted by uncle in the trade ..same problem!!

have new leads all over, new dist cap etc, 2nd hand distributer, new starter motor, brand new coil, new plugs, all fuel lines/filters checked/replaced/all other hoses!!!  we are trying a new distibuter todays as that could possibly faulty.after that who know.. car basically stalls from cold start very quickly, if i let it run for 15mins the drive perfect untill it cools, then a bstd again!!  When warm, it runs very very nice with the webber, but cant leave it to warm up every time i need to go out!!

so far its not cost a fortune due to it being a fill in job for my uncle(who's very busy) & I bought the parts as & when required etc..but now getting very frustrting!!
