Cam case splash shield

How is it held in place

My car is a 92 auto with a Weber carb, I have taken the cam cover off my car to paint it, (a right pain to wriggle it out under the lockdown bracket).
The old gasket had quite a bit of sealant around it so I cleaned it all off the head,
I removed the full length splash guard for better access. How does it fit back in place it seems loose and I don't want to tighten everything up to find it rattles like two skeletons humping in a galvanised bucket. Help!!

It just rests on top of the cam cap bolts, just make sure you put it back on the right way round as I believe it does make a difference.

As above just rests on top I also believe it will only go one way as well

That's the badger Briano, many thanks for the picture. It seems a crappy bit of engineering for Volkswagen, or a bodge fix for a mechanical problem……

I wish I had had one on my 81…Would of saved a massive cleaning when my Brother-in-law left the cap loose and it departed the car when my wife drove it home…… wasn't much oil left in the engine…
