1.8 Clipper Auto Pierburg

I am not entirely sure its even a starting problem!

My 88 Clipper 1.8 Auto starts BEAutifully when ever cold by using just a small amount of choke. However once the car has warmed up and you stop (for example at a beer garden to sit and admire it) When you come to start it if you try with the choke it wont work at all so as read on the forum I opt for the foot half down and catch the revs when it fires! However the engine will often turn over (loudly and slightly embarrassingly, in front of all of the other visitors to the pub who now think the Mk1 is an old heap of junk) for about 5 - 10 second (enough time for you to begin to worry) before firing into life!

I was wandering if anyone could advise on a better strategy for starting once warm ?

Thanks in advance,

Ben!
