Sorry everybody but I would like to call a re-match for the peoples choice, is there not a rule that says it has to be a car not a trailer and the trailer had BMW wheels too! :dontknow: ? Don't get me wrong I like the trailer even if its owners kept me up till three using it but to me it does not fit the description, comments please? …… For the rest of the judging well done because that was a hard job but I do think that mine should have won best engine bay I mean who else had such a piece of art with all the scrap yard numbers and paint on them (hard to find bits) … and it looks like it came straight out of the TATE gallery itself!

Just a little word of thanks to the judging committee. I was genuinely honoured that I bagged the Standard Cabrio award. I like to think that I look after the old girl and she does scrub up well, however the competition had some fantastic vehicles so I was thinking a runner up position was all I could hope for.
I can only assume the judges also took into account the Hobnob biscuits I plied them with.

1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet
The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Oh no the secrets out Yomp - best we resign straight away.
" I'd like to thank my family, friends and collegues. It was never my intention to cause them any embarrassment when I indulged my secret biscuit addiction. I will fade into the background quietly!!!!!!!"

Congratulations to Bert and his half a Mk1 BBQ - Your face was a picture when you realised that you had taken the peoples choice !!!
I don't know whether is was shock or delight as you went across the car park !!
One point though, I am glad that you used a 5 door (they are rubbish :-) ) and next year can you use a cabby !!
I was really shocked when mine won best engine - feels great to know that others appreciate the time and effort getting this far (it has been 5 years since I started to collect the parts required).

Surely the peoples choice award is simply that! Some of the stunning mk1's that were there are going to get a whole heap of prizes throughout the shows they attend. Fair play to bert, he deserved a prize for a) feeding so many b) fixing so many and c) helping so many members over a cracking weekend. Perhaps to please EVERYONE, there could be 2 classes in the peoples choice?

I loved the winner of the best interior… took a load of piccys of it myself; although I thought its category had been changes to best daily driver?

Sharon originally ticked best daily driver having won best interior the year before and didn't think she would win it again.
She had a good look around the cars before the judging started and decided to change it to best interior !!
For those of you who are considering a new interior, Sharon's was done by http://www.classiccarservices.co.uk/
The finished result says everything !!

The point IS that its 'The Peoples' Choice'.
Its gonna stay as it is I'm afraid. If they do something else next year THAT could win or a caddy could scoop the award.
It all depends on what the visitors choose.
As Tone Loc would have said,
"The audience had voted and you know they'd picked a winner",
Bert took his doll to the Hilton for Medina and some dinner.
He had a few drinks and started thinking what he'd be getting
but all he could think about was a jacuzzi and a wedding!

The timing belt is new on the trophy so its going on the next mk1 that i have in for a timing belt ,no its on the fireplace,to the delight of the mrs,

Well Said Bert.
Indeed it was the peoples choice awards and the people have the right to choose and decide. It was a well deserved award. You don't see such unique cars every day.
If i had it my way i would have given the award to the Doll
