Yeah im all good.

Anyone got any idea of what to value it as?

Im looking to have an agreed value with my insurance.

They want me to send 6 pictures and how much I think its worth.

Only thing is, I really wouldnt know what to value it as.

Any ideas would be great.

Yeah Ceri, taking into account the interior you have re done, so as new, paint you have done so as new, and the wheel refurb and all the other bits i would say you would want to be getting it agreed closer to the 6K

but then the only others in your sort of nick have been up for 8K+ havnt they.

Its a tricky one as i think you need to be realistic with valuation so they just do it based on the pics, i would say go in higher or as high as you are comfortable with to be on the safe side :-)

No, normally it's if it's a certain value! Some do some don't. Also worth agreeing salvage rights

Valuation

Hi Mate,

I've had my '91 green Rivage leather from new and its recorded 17,000mls, its not concours, and has never been sprayed. It has stone chips that have been touched up, and the leather although regularly cared for is starting to show signs of age on the bolsters.
However, taking all of teh above into consideration, I have an agreed insurance valuation of £10K, which has increased with the passage of time.
Not sure of your mileage, but given your restoration expenditure, I think yours should be up around this value also.

Hope this helps

Cheers

thing is your car has 17K on it, trying to replace that would be near impossible. a average mile rivage will be easy to find and could be brought up to this level easy enough. but saying that if ceri has spent 5k on parts, + car value then maybe 7k

I wish mine only had 17k on the clock.

At the moment shes on 142k but there will be a new rebuilt engine in there next year.

Ill wait till we get nice weather to take some pics and go from there.

I was thinking of going in with 8k and seeing what they say.

Under a certain value (probably differs between insurers, but is around the £15k - £20k mark), they allow self valuation.

I don't think they care what you think it is worth, the higher you value it, the more it will bump up your premium.
The premiums are usually split into two. Your basic policy is one figure then there is a top up figure for the agreed value, which can be underwritten by another company.

Go for £8k and see what the price is like, hell go for £10K!.
If the premium sounds steep, ask to drop the valuation figure a little…

Hmmmmmm I supose I could go in higher and let them knock me down.

Anyway got my car booked in with a pro detailer friend of mine for this sunday, pending weather.

I have no doubt he will get the paint looking its best as he worked on my old mk4 and that won the show & shine at volksfest wales at the time.

If theres time on sunday the interior will be cleaned from top to bottom aswell as repolishing the wheels.

Then ill update with a pic or two ;-)

Ceri,
I had this problem last year after my resto. I took loads of pictures and submitted them to the same insurance company as the previous 3 years.
I put £6500 for mine down, they rejected and said £6000. They said that their 'expert' had a grip on values so I asked to speak to him/ her so find out where they got the values from.
I appealed, told them about the club, how long I'd been in it, positions held and the fact that over 8 years I may have a better idea of prices than their valuer!

Appeal upheld. £6500 is the agreed price. Engine work is nearly complete so a re- assessment will be submitted in August upon renewal.

*Just a thought though, could it be because it's a Rivage and there's loads about??!!!   Only joking!!!!!

Agreed value

I've just renewed my insurance and asked about agreed value. My insurer requires an independent valuation from either an owners club, a specialist dealer or a restorer to provide agreed value cover. Insurers will put any value you tell them more or less, but the important part is that it is an Agreed Value and that it is in writing from them. Does the club provide a valuation service for members?
Bill.

no the club doesn't provide a valuation service

most insurance companys only ask for a pro valuation if it is above a certain amount

i'm with footman and james and can self value upto 10k

:)

I'm with Footman James too but the self valuation only applies to cars 20 years old or over = pre '92 so no good for late cabbys.

How much extra did people pay for the valuation.

Valuation service

"no the club doesn't provide a valuation service"

This is a service that most car clubs offer, I'm sure it would be a great help to the members, is it something the club comittee could look at?
