Rattling/ knocking over bumps and rough ground
Hi everyone,
I've got a really annoying rattling/knocking noise that I can't trace coming from the front of the car when going over rough ground or bumps- can anyone help me source it please?
I have replaced all this so far- springs, shocks, top mounts, steering rack and track rod ends and I'm running out of ideas. I've jacked the car up and can't see or feel anything that is loose- I did notice that the sub frame under the block wasn't attached at one point on each side (i.e. only 2 of the 4 bolts were in place) so I fitted the missing 2 today bolts but it has made zero difference.
Any ideas? :dontknow:

I've got this at the moment coming from my front nearside corner and i'm gonna replace both front wishbones on both sides.
It's most commonly caused by worn wishbone bushes.
I'm guessing it's a sort of "clapping" sound over speed bumps, rough ground, potholes etc?

Yup, that sounds like it. I'll try the wishbone and ARB bushes. Thanks guys.
Is it easier replacing the whole wishbone rather than trying to get the bush out? Do new wishbones come with bushes?

hub nut
It sounds like one of the above, but just something else to check while your at it,if u have had the hub nuts undone, make sure they are really tight and havnt come undone any,put a breaker bar on them and stand on it! If they have come undone, the outer cv can `clatter` around a bit inside the hub, seen it before a couple of times on cars where people have recently done wheel bearings or something similar!
