At least the quality of cable is there for when you get around to adding in the massive spec speakers

So after a bit of a break Christmas proved to be pretty useful with the postman delivering a decent amount of bits to keep me busy with my odd weekends back with the cabby, pictures of the items to follow shortly.

Got my easter works list on the go, so far it's the following…
Strip and waxoyl the entire underside and inner arches.
Replace the aerial.
Rewire speakers.
Fit chrome flag mirrors.
Fit mud flaps (somehow got my hands on a full new set of originals).
Fit lower front strut.
Rebalance breaks.
Replace brake fluid and gearbox oil.
Fit new bulbs and uprated loom.
Space the wheels to get more than the 1or2mm clearance that I have at the moment.
Replace mats.
And plenty more

Sounds like some good plans mucker.

Why is it that the lists seem to get longer not shorter?  ;)

I know, it always seems as though you do as much as you want and then start to notice more.

Hopefully my weekend if weather allows, should be nice to get some bits put on, especially as some were a right pain to find

Hi,

do the boot lights come on with a switch on the boot surround? I think there's a painted-over switch on my cabiolet somewhere which could be wired in to do this. Is it original or an add-on?

Great work here!

Mine works off the little microswitch, same as on the doors. It seems original to me, however it only comes on if the headlights are on, not sure if it's a quirk on my cabby.

No that's correct on the cabby. Not sure why as it's dark in there even in daylight! It should have come on any time the boots opens I reckon. Bad VW!

So today whilst the sun was shining I actually managed to spend some quality time on the golf.

Replaced the aerial for one a little more in keeping

Whilst having the inner arches off I was pleased to see no rot and cleaned out and recoated the arches.

Fitted a lower strut brace

Fitted the front grilles

And got the bumper back on with new indicator lenses

All in all feeling better to have got some jobs ticked off the list.

Nice little jobs ticked-off ;) Strut brace should make a good difference.

I hope so, to be honest its only there as I'm planning on putting bigger calipers on the front and have spaced the front wheels to accommodate them. They had barely any clearance before. So by poking the wheels out i figured the brace would help cancel out any extra stress on the suspension.

Got the licence bulbs changed and made a start on the mudflaps, front on and hopefully the last time I see mud on the sills like in the pics.
