I assure you that Gary has been out on those many good weather occasions. Went to a show with Dave Watson. He kindly took a photo.
Apart from cleaning, the frequency to do work is few and far between now. A few months ago, I managed to replace the carb with a new Weber and have replaced my dodgy repair on the drivers upper door trim.
A new kitchen relocation / cloakroom project on the house has become my main priority recently and due to storage requirements and potential damage, Gary has been put into storage for the new few months. Here he is with some of the big boys.

I only found out that the pictures were on the VWH website yesterday.
The car will be out at the end of the month as I am just getting over some building work and the garage is full.

Scary moment though, on the way to the garage the gearstick became loose. Somehow I could select reverse inadvertently when wanting first.
Scary for my neighbour following me and people behind me at the traffic lights!
It seems a spring clip around the gearstick became detached allowing the gear lever to drop and past the gate for reverse. All sorted now.
Got to fit him back into my garage.

If so be prepared for it to happen again. I've had it happen on two MK1s and find it happens repeatedly - I think the clip gets a touch loose.
New ones are cheap enough - maybe it's worth replacing it - certainly if it happens a second time

Thanks for the advice, I will take note of that, it was a bit scary.
I have just had two days off this Thursday and Friday and given the car a make over in preparation for the AGM.
However, I have been plagued by the rain and showers, I'm a bit concerned that we might have the same over the weekend.

So today, I am fortunate now to be on a 4 day week, Gary has been unpacked and valeted as it rained quite heavily on the journey back.
Some might be aware I had to put him in storage during some building work on the house before the AGM. Well I recycled the dining room carpet.
Note, I have still got a lot packed around the sides and roof to get rid of.
Gary is back home.
