1979 Golf 1.1 Lemon Yellow

Really nice car. Looks in excellent condition. Are the seats and door cards standard or have they been re-trimmed? Whats it like underneath? All solid im guessing judging by the rest of the car. Ive just bought a 81 "N" model in lemon yellow that I plan to restore and put back to standard.
Seats and door cards are standard basketweave vinyl, the interior is one of my favourite parts of the car, so retro lol.
Underneath is 100% solid, same as the restof the car. It's not finished to a concours standard but I plan on doing a job on it. Shortly after I got the car I treated all the cavities with wax to protect it.

Any updates on this?
No, it has more or less been mothballed, it's just a rolling shell now.

What happened was a great looking car and looked in excellent condition.
Long story, it's sitting in primer while I find someone to paint it….maybe next year.

Have been wondering how things were progressing with your mk1 Neil. sorry to hear its still in primer. Saw some pics of another yellow mk1 like yours at last years Limerick show and not knowing your reg. no. assumed it was yours finished. Hope you get it sorted soon.
There's a twin of my car here, it's a diesel so that was probably it.
I'll get mine done sometime
