Hi Folks, im in the middle of selling my vw bug and im going to treat myself to a nice wee Gti, im wondering if it would be ok to post a link to a car im looking at on P/H just now just to see if anyone has had a look or indeed knows the car?

I would suggest you ask someone from Surrey to go and check it out if it is not too much trouble if you are far away...

He says "2 or 3 rust bubbles".  Make sure you find out where these are.  Around the windows and they're quite hard to get the window seals fitting exactly in place again I beleive… others may have more info on this.  but definitely check the known problem areas.

?2,800 is a lot of money in todays market for what people see as a luxury item… but for a straight car it may be worth somewhere near that.  It looks like it hasn't been garaged but looks solid enough from the 3 pics.

Read the buying guide on here for tips of what to check… personally I'd check other cars before this one and see what condition fetches what price if you're new to the mk1 scene.  That way you can gauge what you're willing to pay.  Ask the seller to be brutally honest with you before you make that long a journey.

Don't use the FIGURES in the guide though as I beleive prices have dropped and are not reflected correctly… Everyone's been watching the market themselves.  Finally…. make sure you get a mk1 your happy with as the smile doesn't go away!!!

Some good advice there guys, i have spoken to the chap a couple of times and have asked him for a lot of pics to look over, hopefully he will send these soon, i will upload these onto my photobucket account and then post on here (if thats ok?) just for reassurance that it could be a good 1.
