Hello there mk1 fans!
Hello there people, 
as you can tell i'm a newbie here but i can say what a top site and what top people both drew and andy (hairyarse) are!, giving me advise as i tried to pick up an illusive mk1.
Well i've got one now, an '82 registered 1.8 GTI, a lovely unmolested example, needs a little touching up, but she is 23 years old!
On that note however, any one know what Haynes manual i want to be buying? :dontknow:

Your best bet is to pick up a used one printed in late eighties as these had the most info in.
Have a search for haynes here as there was a discussion about the best one.
