gti international 2008

has a club stand been organised yet? and do we have to be paid up members to get on it? or any specific rules?
its on june 21st n 22nd this year

Not organised yet, but we intend to have one. Yes you need to be a Club member to put your car on the Club stand.

Ant will put up details in due course.

better start saving up then, bout time i became i member though i suppose.

think i will be putting mine on the strip if the new engine is built and in  

mite put mine on too- purely for a chuckle!

I'll probably go, its a nice show with a decent amount of trade stands and exhibitors, centrally located, and of course the strip too. The road surface is not a racetrack but a normal road, and there's a bit of a question mark on the accuracy of the timing gear - but these aren't important issues, its all a bit of fun anyway. The way the format works is that a group of around 12 cars run up the strip in pairs, then a course car escorts you back (they're quite strict on people driving around site at too high speed, etc). This means you can stop and have a chat with the guy (or foxy lady in one instance last year) you just beat, etc.

There's Spring Festival beforehand - or are you not going to that one? In any case, Its 21-22nd June so I might have the VR6 by then. According to calculations/predictions, it should be an 11 second car…..

Realistically, what mods have you done since last year to gain more performance? I've not done anything to the black GTI yet, but a new gearbox and lightened flywheel are in the pipeline, along with a little more weight loss (no front bumper), which I'm hoping will sneak me into the 13's. So it will be a close run thing.

Any others going on the strip, and what's your estimated time? (I think a stock GTI does it in around 16.5 secs).

few of us going deans going to run again last year i ran a 14.5 this year im hoping to get down to 13.5 at least :wink:
