deep dish alloys ... but will they fit

ok im still on the mental hunt for a pair of cool rims
another pair has cought my eye
( as per usual i like ones that wont fit )

found a guy in germany that does deep dish alloys that i just love

problem stud pattern 4x98 mine is 4x100 so i asked the question and here was my answer …

The stud pattern problem can be solved via an adaptor, but since those are at least 20mm thick the offset would be reduced accordingly. So you need to figure out if from your wheel hub towards the centre is enough space.
In the current setup you'd need 3.5" (dish depth) - 6.5mm (offset) + 20mm (adaptor thickness) in the front and 4.0" (dish depth) - 13 mm (offset) + 20mm (adaptor thickness) in the rear. I know that people here in Germany have even 10" wide rims on their Golf Mk-1, but I'm not a VW expert, so please check with the above data if it fits.

ok i have no idea what he means so might as well replied in german lol

can someone translate the above as i dont understand this offset business and can anyone tell if they will fit …..

massive thanks

Right - You really need to do some reading/googling about offsets.

From what he is saying, it sounds like the wheels are going to stick out a fair bit, though he does not mention the width of the wheels, which is a big factor when considering offset!

I would find some cars with the stance you want, then find out what width and size of wheel/tyre has been used. The mags are a good place to start as they normally put this detail in there somewhere…

If you post a link up for the wheels, I'll take a look if you like?

…Oh, by the way, if you want a big dish, then you dont really want to be using adaptors as this will bring the wheel centres out away from the car, giving less space for a dish!

With 98mm PCD people say you can use "Wobbly Bolts" though I have no experience of them, so can't realy comment…
