my mk1 is my first car (17)
its a 1983 GL
Best time in it was probably doing 110 en route to france

Thats some collection of cars u got there by the looks of it ! 8O
Theres already an alrite stereo in my cabbie for now, so i think my 1st mods gona be to remove the cheap stick on window tints, there all scratched to bits when you look up close! :?
Was lookin at your pics 1stgolf, thats gona be a sweet brief youl have wen its fin!

wish i could lol im in kent the last owner is in wales i still cant get my head around how much filler was actully used

1st mk1 in 1991. a 1981 1.6 auto 4 door. horrrid thing. car was actually o.k. and it shifted off the lights all the way to about 40mph and didn't want to go much faster than that. had a habbit of just breaking down every now and then. would just stop working until it decided to start working again.

i had a 1978 mk1 gls 3 door really cool 1.5 4 speed box this was back in 1995 it was also in matt black so it was the original rat people used to laugh but i knew it was cool

First Mk1 bought just over 3 years ago,up till then had been a MK2 freak(16v,then G60,then 2.9 VR6),its great drove down to Le Mans last year for the 24hr race parked next to a F40 Ferrari and was well chuffed to get more attention(Cue one very gutted ferrari driver,driving off in a huff!!Hee Hee).Never going to sell,I will be giving it to my boy when I am to fat and old to get in it

my first mk1 was also my 1st car in 1989, VLF 660S a polar white 5 door 1.6 GLS.
the first mod was to put a new bottom end in it!!! crank shaft shells etc me and my older brother totally re built the engine in that, it was great fun actually and with the webber carb it went nearly as well as a gti too.
I sold that in 1990 and got HNK 289Y my Lhasa green GTI 8) i kept that for 7 years and only sold it in 1998 to buy my Rallye golf G64 FBL 8) !!! in the time i had the Lhasa one i also had my mars red 1 1977 series 1 gti too, COA 330V and a gunmetal grey B reg GTI cabrio….whos number plate i cant remember!!! I sold the rallye and bought a Highline VR6 in 2005 and still have it 8)
& i Bought my current flash red mk1 Sportline cab in December 2006, been very happy with all my Dubs….love modding them albeit slightly with wheels and exhausts, suspension etc the sportline will be staying totally standard at the minute untill i can find a set of black centred BBS RS alloys i dont have to sell a kidney for to get hold of! i wont change anything else i doubt? as its nice as it is 8)

my first MK1
This is a picture of my first MK1.
It was a 1.5 DL diesel, first of the diesels before they went to 1.6.
It had gti arches etc when i first got it, but they were going from day one, nothing but water traps them damn things and cleaner lines without them.
If anyone has any details on the car now, please PM me.

my first mk1 will be my first car it is a gti sr1 with a 1.8 lump in it ktl 776v no fun times its just been a pain in the *@"! but o well hopefully many fun times to come

I needed a cheap run around in '94 after buying my first house.
It was an '81 1300 CL in Lemon Yellow and I paid ?250 for it. Ran it for 3 years and put 60,000 miles on it. Sold it for ?250! Had to put a gearbox in it though which turned out to be an economy box which had a really high 4th gear which was rubbish!
Mods were GTI alloys + spats.
It was nice to see a Lemon yellow one at Gaydon. Bought back fond memories!
Converted me to VW as you can tell by my signature!
Best time in it was chasing the World Rally GB round Wales for a week with my mate in '95 to see Colin Mcrash take the title.
The photo is taken deep in the welsh forest near Snowdon during that week.

Got my 1st Mk1 back in 1994 - silver campaign. Had it for about 3 yrs & used it as my daily driver. Never missed a beat.
Can't repeat the best time I had in it, but I had many…
It got passed on to a 'friend' and has since departed to the scrapyard in the sky.
Only mod I had done was to add a k&n air filter.
After a 10 year absence I now have another Mk1, best decision I've ever made
