Lets see your engine bay?

My engine bay needs some love. Engine out so then I can properly finish the last owners bulkhead repair.

I'm sure we have all seen this one…..

(couldn't track down owner to ask permission, but your probably on here)

This is better than new, but what i'm looking for is photo's of standard original engine bays. Haynes manual isn't very good photo. Does anyone have a very good standard engine bay? Or just very original?

I'd like to see how they were finished and what was & wasn't painted/plated and where some bits go.

Thats exactly what I'm after! Apart from the painted alternator is that as it would have been from new? Is it all new (bottles/clips/fan cowling) or cleaned?

pretty close to as it would have been - rocker cover, cam belt cover, rad cowling re powdercoated, new coolant tank, hose clips, nuts and bolts, rest of it is just scrubbed..

see here for more details. .

well worth doing in my opinion.  :)

Here's our engine bay at present.

Heya there,

Here's our engine bay at present:

And we'd like it cleaned up as though it was just taken out of the shop with a little tuning along the way!
Gotta find out how much thats going to cost for a complete engine rebuild..

I'm so flipping lonely, it's killing me lol at least I can laugh about it!!

.

if you have a close look at parts and clean some up, you should see some remaining of the yellow zinc if it was previously plated.i.e. oil cooler bracket;oil cooler pipe ends;fuel injection pipe ends;all banjo bolts on the fuel injection;alternator bracket;coil clamp;there were also a few yellow zinc nuts and bolts on the engine from factory.

Finally got round to sorting my engine bay. Not a minter than mint job, but excellent for the 2 hour / £15 investment.

air filter box

while everyone is getting there bits out over the last week ive been putting my engine in my new shell the guy that had it before me deleted a few bits from the bay itself eg battery, water bottle,. my question is what dose the airbox sit on? dose it have a tray or a bracket or something? because i cant figure it out surelly it doesnt just wobble about in the bay? has the chap before me cut it away?

It's fits to a bit on the side of the battery tray.

Standard. Original. Dirty.
(got the fear of pressure-washing or running a hose)

It started with 2 stainless rad brackets so be careful.
