I have a b reg gti it has had an intermittent cutting out fault

I have had the pump out of under the back seat and all the pipes had perished so I cleaned the tank empty the fuel and put new pipes and fuel on the motor, it ran for a little while and cut out

Now it won't start at all I have changed the battery and spark plugs all filters

Can anyone help me, the pump sometimes makes a noise when the ignition is on and other times makes no noise at all

Helllllp

You may have a blockage further down the fuel line, there is a little filter in the fuel line just in front of the main pump underneath the car or you may of cooked your fuel pump relay, not 100% sure what fuse box you have but form my 1988 car with a No63 fuel pump relay you can remove it and the relay below it, use the relay below in the slot of the fuel pump relay (you will need to turn it to fit in the slot) then your fuel pump should run with just the ignition on, other way is get some wire and bridge the 2 larger connection where the fuel pump relay lives, the fuel pump will run even without the keys in the car! Try and start the car and see if it runs?

So I have changed the the fuel pump under the rear seat and didn't fix my problem, I have now took off the fuel pump reservoir and the fuel accumulator and now the fuel gets threw with the ignition on, can anyone help me with working out where the block is or should I replace one or both the parts
