Help identifying purple wires 1989 Cabriolet GTI

Hello,
Please could someone tell me what the purple wires are for in my 1989 GTI cabriolet? They have been chewed through by a mouse throughout the winter so I need to replace them but I don't actually know what they're for. They split under the rear seats and appear to go to the rear on both sides and in to a relay in the boot. The electric hood still works fine so I'm not sure what they are.

Settling In
These are attached to the two press clips on the black plastic moulds on each side of the rear seat. This prevents the roof from being operated when the roof cover is in place with the clips attached.
