Problems fitting new door seals
have bought a new door seal for the drivers side door as the original one was damaged when removing for the door to be painted. I have bought a new one from Crazyquiffs but when fitted the door will not close?? The seal seems to be a lot thicker than the original causing problems when trying to close the door .
Has anyone had this problem with the copy door seals?

Hi, I'm in the process of doing this myself. Reading on other posts it's not unusual for the door not to shut till it's squashed a bit, where did you put the little notch in the seal? I'll update you with my process when I get chance to have another go at it

The door seal seem a lot thicker than the original. It has no cost in it or holes for the clips. I have tried trimming the seal where the door hinges are but it is still miles off from closing

You need to make sure that the seal is pushed into place as much as you can. Took a few attempts to get mine fitted, and even then the door does take some shutting. I left mine shut for about a month and it has settled in a bit better, but still needs a good shove to close it. Means it will be sealing well at any rate!

IIRC when I removed my seals on the Cabriolet when swapping and painting my Drivers door, I still had issues where the thing wouldn't stay put with the clips and screws provided… I used Brush on contact cement in the trays, and where it rolled over the edges even at the bottom of the door. That seemed to do the trick. I used a product over here called "Amazing Goop Plumbers Glue" it is waterproof. Brushed on both parts, and allowed to tack dry about 4-5 minutes IIRC…..Once I started fitting I had very little time to position it so be warned.
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

Just replaced my boot seal……. Well nowhere near shutting even after pushing in as far as possible and adjusting latch fully out, really not looking forward to doors

I bought mine from Classic-VW some time ago for all four doors.
They had the clip holes, I did not do any cutting.
Yes they were fresh seals and took a firm pull or push/slam to shut after fitting but have settled in now.
