When I took my engine/gearbox out there were two rubber washers 171188125A either side of the O/S engine mount (cambelt end)
I see on the VW parts list it shows two rubber washers fitted either side of the N/S gearbox mount (battery end)?
Should they be fitted to both??
Advice appreciated.

Yes one each side, they are to keep road debris out of the mount rubbers… Are they needed? No not really, they also keep you from seeing your failed motor mount when it goes bad.
