Ballast Resistor Query

Hi All,

My car is a 1983 (A Reg) Mk1 Golf GTi, DX Engine code.

I was trying to find a ballast resistor but couldn't find it.

Is it because it's an electronic ignition system (no contacts in distributor) or it is fitted with an alternative system?

Appreciate any info please.
