MK2 gone - out comes restored mk1....help please!

Hey all,

I've been away for a bit what with starting new job. I finally sold my Oak green mk2 16v, didn't get a great price but I didn't make a loss on it, so all good.

Now that the MK2 is sold I can look forward to getting the MK1 going again. Its been locked in a dry garage since May when its restoration was completed and i've been itching to start using it.

Classic insurance is going to be about ?300 a year comp  :D but I need top get it MOT'd (Should go through fine once electrics are sorted).

Just need help on a couple of points.

1. Is any one on here a mobile car electrician? I need the immoboliser properly bypassed and a couple of little other things sorted. If your not one could you please recommend someone and give me an idea of how much they are?

2. I'm really having difficultly finding a new plastic wheel arch set. I have been quoted ?75 + VAT from GPC but i'd rather get the ?30 kit that Euro's/GSF do, but they both say they are out of stock. Does anyone know of anyone who has got a kit they want to get rid of or a branch of Euro's/GPC that still have a set in stock?

Thanks in advance all, i'll get some pictures taken of my Mk1 when I next see it.

Immobiliser is usually fairly easy to remove from the car by tracing the wiring back - often spliced into the loom near the fusebox and the ignition barrel. I'm no auto electrician, but was easily able to remove both the immobiliser and alarm wiring from my car, which incidentally cured a few electrical gremlins I was having.

If you can take the dash out it would make things easier.

Cheers,

The car is in the brackley area, northants, junction 11 of the M40.

I don't really dare mess with electrics, I nearly burned down my first Mk1 by trying to fit front fog lamps

Thanks for the advice peeps,
