MK2 16v Golf with Genuine 61k miles.....
Bought the above the other day with intention of selling on. E plated small bumper 16v gti in Monza blue(rarer than helios) with genuine 61k miles. Is in very good condition overall with a totally unmarked interior and totally original. what could this possibly be worth???

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday

if those miles are genuine m8 its worth more than 400, the engine and ancillaries are worth that if its straight. has it any mot? if its only done 60k should be pretty solid

I think that colour was only available in 87, it is clean but im not a lover of the mk2. Prefer the mk3 by far, currently have 3 mk3 gti's including a mystic blue anniversary 8v

Very nice original car. I'm a big fan of the Mk2 16v cars - had a Mk2 Jetta 16v in the past. I think they look better with the big bumpers, but because so many people convert the early cars it means original ones like this are becoming rarer all the time.
Colour is maybe something that grows on you - very of its time. Atlas Grey is the best Mk2 colour imho.
I think the main thing that has kept the value of Mk2 16v-ers depressed up until now is the horrendous insurance group and premiums compared to the value of the car.
Hopefully that will change now that many of them are approaching the 15+ year old mark and so should be eligible for classic policies.

How much fun I've been quad biking a few times and had a go in a 600cc racing version of one of those! So Cool! :y:
