update: What a load of rubbish
help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trading standards didn't want to know as they said what VOSA said
My reply was "ok then ill sell the car on and you cant do anything to me" the guy at trading standards said "well the thing is you know that the car has problems" (im not selling it anyway not unless someone offers me 1300quid tomorrow)
My next move::: the car at the moment is in the garage waiting for the all clear for the repairs to start ; a few new bulbs, stop the brakes creeping etc and it will be back on the road fingers crossed (im sure by then the weather will turn and the roof will leak or something
thanks for all your comments

HPI or equivalent check is always good too as it will flag any obvious problems like write offs or dodgy MOT certs.
With most badly accident damaged cars its almost impossible to completely rectify the damage economically. Front and rear end shunts can usually be spotted by looking at the front and rear chassis legs and slam panels. Any fresh paint or underseal here and be very wary.
Getting the car up on a ramp will usually tell you a lot about what kind of life its led too.
I know this is all a bit late now, but maybe for next time!
